BUJANOVAC AND PREŠEVO ARE AMONG 6 CITIES THAT HAVE A POSITIVE BIRTH RATE

12. July 2019.

Bujanovac, Presevo – Only 6 places in Serbia have a positive birth rate, among which are the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac.

According to the data of the Republican Institute for Statistics, 447 babies were born in Bujanovac in 2018, while 356 persons died, while the number of newborns in Presevo is 359, and the number of deceased persons is 239.

Of the 6 places with the highest mortality rate in Serbia in 2018, 4 are from the southern part of the country and they include Babusnica, Crna Trava, Gadzin Han and Razanj.

On the other hand, in 2018, there were more born than deceased persons in the southern part of the country only in Bujanovac and Presevo.

The statistics of the Republican Institute about how many people are born and how many of them are dying is not optimistic at all, since the birth rate is negative in most of the towns and municipalities in Serbia.

Last year, Gadžin Han, Babušnica and Crna Trava lost the largest number of citizens in relation to the total number of the population.  In Gadzin Han, 34 babies were born, while 193 people died, while there were 46 newborns in Babushnica, which is 6 times less than the number of deceased - 293.

The statistics in Crna Trava are not any better, because this city got only 9 new citizens, while it lost 48 of them.

According to the so-called vital statistics, 2.510 babies were born in Nis last year, while 3,484 people died and the figures are very similar to those obtained in 2017.

There were twice more those that died than those that were born in Pirot – 865 persons died, and 431 persons were born. A similar situation is in Leskovac, where 1,162 babies were born last year and 2,033 persons died.

According to the data of the Institute, the estimated number of inhabitants in Serbia in 2018 is 6,982,604.
