Bujanovac - The third international seminar and an exhibition of beekeeping equipment and products were held at the “Mladost” sports hall in Bujanovac.  They were organized by the Bujanovac beekeepers association "Pollen2012".

The event titled "The Bee Knows No Borders" brought together beekeepers from all over Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo and Metohija, while the beekeeping equipment and bee products were presented by 25 exhibitors.

Speakers at the seminar were Rodoljub Živadinović, PhD, the President of the Beekeeping Association of Serbia, and Novko Velkov, PhD, a professional beekeeper.

“Beekeeping and honey production are in a full swing," said Zarija Mitic, the Chairman of the" Pollen 2012" association.

“We have over 7000 hives in the area of the municipality, while there are 18 beekeepers and 419 hives more than last year," Mr. Mitic said.

The event was visited by Saip Kamberi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, who said that the local self-government had recognized the potential of beekeeping in Bujanovac and encouraged the development of this branch of agriculture by subsidies.

Last year, the municipal subsidies to individual producers covered 80 percent of the costs for the purchase of the equipment, amounting up to 100,000 dinars.
