AROUND 1,100 MIGRANTS WERE REGISTERED IN PRESEVO YESTERDAY

Presevo – New measures for migrants are implemented at the Reception Center in Presevo as of this morning. Another box has been added in the existing registration paper for migrants, in which they are supposed to enter the country in which they wish to seek asylum, so that only those who want to go to Austria or Hungary can pass.

Slobodan Savovic from the Commissariat for Refugees of Serbia points out that the migrants knew they needed to make a statement regarding the issue.

“They knew ahead of us that they needed to opt for either Austria or Germany. Nobody has been returned from here. Economic migrants very rarely emerge, but when they do, they’re returned,” Mr. Savovic says.

Only a small group of migrants is staying in a warm tent at the Reception Center in Presevo. Winter and cold weather are their great enemies and that is why their influx has decreased.

From midnight till now, around 1,100 people have been registered in Presevo, where they are provided with warm clothes, food, accommodation and medical assistance.
