ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN THE PCINJ DISTRICT GOES ON

Bujanovac, Vranje – This summer, the archaeological seasonal works will be carried out at two sites in the Pcinj district.

On June 30, archaeologists continued working at the site of Kale Krsevica, which is situated near Bujanovac, under the supervision of the Archaeological Institute in Belgrade, while as of July 15, the Department of Archaeology of the National Museum in Vranje went on implementing  the project the “Necropolis of the Cremated Deceased During the Period of the Roman Domination in the Territory of the Pcinj District”. The latter project is done at the Utrine site, at the village of Srednji Del.  

Nenad Radojcic, an archeologist from the National Museum in Belgrade, says that the works at the Kale site will be focused on the area where the acropolis was found.  

This year, the works at the archaeological site, which has been investigated for 13 years, will be funded by the Ministry of Culture with one million dinars. The Ministry also funds the works performed at the Utrina site with 450, 000 dinars.
