AMUSING AND EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

21. July 2014.

The “Golden Key” association from Nis is implementing the “Edu Caravan” project, which is dedicated to the children of tobacco-growers from the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac.  The main activities of the caravan will be taken in July and August and will include creative and educational workshops.

Teachers depart daily from Nis for the villages of Reljan and Veliki Trnovac, more precisely for the elementary schools „Muharrem Kadriu“ and the „9th. of May“, where  they work with the children from 10 to 14 hours. Children and young people come by buses to the two schools from the surrounding villages of Biljaca, Nesalce, Letovica, Turija, Raince, Strezoc, Slavujevac etc.

The „Edu caravan“ team includes members of the „Green Key“ association, which includes environmentalists and protectors of the environment, then students of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Biology. Part of the team are artists, too, while the project is also supported by the Youth Offices from Bujanovac and Presevo.  In the end, the results of the project will be reflected in the creative work's artifacts, as well as in the newly acquired skills and knowledge. Also planned for the participants in the project are film, photography and acting workshops, as well as art workshops, where the young will learn sculpting, casting plaster prints, drawing on glass, murals, collages and graphics. Some of the topics are related to the recycling of paper and waste, organic farming and the cultivation of tobacco.

In addition to acquiring new skills, beneficiaries of the project will participate in various community and team games. Since the environment at issue is a multi-national one, the workshops will be attended by both Serbian and Albanian children. For the pupose of facilitating communication, the project teams have interpreters, who are very helpful young people.  The most active and most regular attendees of the caravan will be rewarded, while a trip for all participants in the project and an exhibition of works, which are planned for September, will be organized at the end of the project.
