ALBANIAN AND SERBIAN POLICE OFFICERS BUILT THE ROAD LEADING TO THE CHURCH IN THE VILLAGE OF ORAOVICA, NEAR PRESEVO

1. June 2020.

Presevo – The Albanian and Serbian police officers from the police station (PS) in Presevo jointly managed to build a new road leading to the church in the village of Oraovica, as the existing one is fenced off because it is located on a private property.

The Serbs and Albanians, who are police officers and members of the Presevo Police Station, with the help of people from the church board, jointly provided the believers with access to the church in the village, which has been ethnically Albanian in recent decades.

Marjan Petrovic, the commander of the field office of the Presevo PS, says that his police officers once again showed humanity by dividing people on national or religious grounds.

“The owner of the plot of land closed the road and fenced it off with a concrete and wire fence, so that it was difficult to get to the church. Thanks to the involvement of police officers from the Presevo PS, and with the cooperation of church board members and willing citizens, as well as private entrepreneurs, fuel was provided, so that we opened a new road in the direction of the church, just above the Presevo PS filed office in the village of Oraovica. We proved in the past, too, that together, regardless of our nationality, we could solve all the problems, "Mr. Petrovic said.

The police in Presevo are multiethnic, while its members, both the Serbs and Albanians, are well-known for their humanity. The Serbs have not lived here for decades, but the church remained on the hill above the village, where they gather on major holidays.

Police officers from the Presevo PS previously painted the church in the village of Reljan, where both Serbs and Albanians live.
