900 REFUGEES IN PRESEVO, FOOD AND HEATING PROVIDED

24. January 2017.

Presevo – “904 men, women and children are accommodated at the Reception Centre for Refugees in Presevo, to whom shelter, food, clothing and medical services are provided. So far, there have been no problems whatsoever, "said Lirije Selmani Misini, a representative of the UNHCR at the center.

Мs. Selmani Misini said that the refugees who came to the reception center, upon entering Serbia from Macedonia and Bulgaria, were visibly tired and had very few personal belongings, which is why winter clothing, which they lacked, was firstly handed out to them.

“There are very few persons suffering from frostbite among the refugees who check themselves into the Reception Centre in Presevo, but most of them do not have enough winter clothes. Usually, all those who come here get the whole package of clothes: underwear, a winter jacket, a tracksuit and a pair of tennis shoes. There are many families with children at the reception center, as well as children who are not accompanied by their parents, "Ms. Selmani Misini said.

There is a health center at the Reception Center in Presevo that is open round- the- clock.

“Apart from colds and children’s measles, there are no serious health problems among the refugees. If individuals develop serious health problems, they are referred to the health center in Presevo, or, if necessary, to the health center in Vranje. The patient is accompanied by a team of doctors from the UNHCR for the duration of his or her treatment, "Ms. Selmani Misini said.

The representative of the UNHCR stated that all rooms in which the refugees resided at the Reception Center in Presevo were heated, as well as that two cooked meals were provided to them for lunch and dinner, and an uncooked one for breakfast.
