5 MILIION DINARS FROM THE MUNICIPAL BUDGET FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF MEDICAL STAFF AT THE BUJANOVAC HEALTH CENTER

26. June 2018.

Bujanovac – Due to the ban on recruitment in the public sector, which is still in force, the health center in Bujanovac has been faced with the lack of medical and non-medical staff over the previous few years. The problem is solved by hiring temporary workers, who are financed from the budget of the local self-government.

The municipality of Bujanovac earmarked in its budget for 2018 over 18 million dinars for the healthcare facility, while by the budget revison, which was adopted at the most recent session of the Municipal Council held last week, the funds were increased by around 5 million dinars.

Stojanca Arsic, the Deputy Mayor of Bujanovac, said on that occasion that there was no other way of providing a smooth operation of the health center.

"The health center has a shortage of medical staff, both doctors and nurses, and for the time being there is no hint of lifting the ban on employmen, so that we are forced to solve this burning problem by hiring temporary workers," Mr. Arsic said.

According to him, around 30 helthcare workers left the Bujanovac healthcare institution over the past few years. The most common reasons for their leaving are the retirement and specialization, while there are also cases of doctors leaving the health center due to the opening of private practice.

According to unofficial information, no internist examinations have been carried out at the health center for a month, because a specialist is on sick leave, while the other one resigned.

“We have to cover the field work done at health centers and infirmaries, as well as at the health center in Bujanovac, which is why the municipality helps. Unfortunately, the health center has a shortage of drivers, too,  so that we are forced to hire additional drivers during the year, too, "Mr. Arsic said.
