30,000 CORONAVIRUS TESTS FOR SOUTHERN SERBIA TO ARRIVE

9. April 2020.

Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja - Of the 90,000 coronavirus tests purchased by Serbia, 30,000 will be given to the residents of southern Serbia and sent to Nis.

In order to test as many samples as possible, the Government has announced the construction of a prefabricated laboratory in Nis, but it will, they say, be completed in 45 days.

Samples are currently being tested at the Veterinary Institute and the Institute of Public Health in Nis.

The Minister of Agriculture, Branislav Nedimovic, said that the capacity of the aforementioned laboratories, which our country would receive from China, was equal to the current total capacity of Serbia for testing for the coronavirus.

He pointed out that we managed to constantly increase the number of tested persons and the capacity of our laboratories over the previous days, but that there were limits beyond which neither humans nor machines could go, and that was why the donation from the Chinese partners was very important

“Thanks to everyone who donated us tests over the past few days, while they will also deliver robots to our laboratories in the next two or three days, so that we could reduce the risk when processing these tests as much as possible,” Minister Nedimovic said.

The Minister said that a location had been found in Nis where a laboratory would be built, noting that it would take 45 days.

According to him, the above-mentioned new laboratories are not temporary, but will support the Serbian security and healthcare systems, and perhaps agriculture.
