MEDVEDJA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT COMPLETED

Medvedja – The third basketball tournament "Medvedja 2016", which was this year, too, organized by Tourist Organization of Medvedja, with the support of the local self-government, finished in Medvedja.

The program included semi-final and final matches, as well as a competition in scoring three points. The appropriate awards were given to the best teams, as well as to the individual basketball players. The final evening was watched by hundreds of spectators on the basketball court located close to the“Vrtic” facility. 

Following completion of the matches, prizes were awarded to the best individuals and teams. Aleksandar Milenovic was found to be the best "three point" scorer, Nemanja Cerovic the best scorer of the tournament, and Jovan Rakic the best and most valuable player of the tournament.  

The third-ranked team won the cup, medals and T-shirts, as well as a cash prize in the amount of 10,000 dinars, the second- ranked team, in addition to the above-mentioned things, won the cash prize of 15,000 dinars, while the first-placed "Mili and Friends" team won the trophy of the tournament, medals, T-shirts and a cash prize of 20,000 dinars.

MR. PAJAZITI: NO COMPROMISES WITH ILL-MANNERED MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS

Bujanovac – “Any citizen can complain about the conduct of employees of the Bujanovac municipal administration. If it is determined that a municipal official behaved towards a customer in a rude manner, below the level that is required of him/her, then there will be no understanding for him/her, "said Ismail Pajaziti, the Head of the Bujanovac municipal administration.  

“The unprofessional conduct of employees won’t be tolerated”, he said. 

Mr. Pajaziti, who was appointed the Head of the Bujanovac municipal administration this June, said that the municipal services would be modernized.

“The organization of municipal administration should meet the challenge of our time, which requires permanent changes in accordance with the law and adjustments to the European Union’s legislation. I will work, in the coming period, on ensuring that the citizens get efficient municipal administration, "Mr. Pajaziti said.

PRVONEK: A NEW INVESTMENT OF 10 MILLION EUROS

Bujanovac, Prvonek – Zorana Mihajlovic, the Deputy Prime Minister, attended the beginning of works on the construction of 3.7 kilometers’ long water supply reservoir Prvonek, which will resolve the decades-old problem of water supply in Vranje. The new pipeline, in which 2.3 million euros will be invested, will be completed in February 2017 and will provide reliable and regular water supply in Vranje

Thanks to the support of the German Development Bank KFW, the project is implemented, through the program of improving infrastructure in medium-sized municipalities in Serbia, by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure. Apart from Zorana Mihajlovic, the event was attended by Axel Dittmann, the German Ambassador to Serbia, as well as by the local officials from South Serbia.

The chief contractor is the SADE Company from France, while the subcontractor is “Trace PZP” from Vranje. Approximately 30 million euros will be invested in infrastructure projects in Vranje by means of the projects launched and planned with the KFW Bank.

FIFTH CALL FOR THE “PRODUCTION” OF HEALTHY IDEAS

Belgrade – The NLB Bank Belgrade issued for the fifth time a call for the best project in the field of production and processing of organic food.  The call is aimed at supporting and assisting  the development of organic farming and food processing in Serbia, as well as at contributing to the promotion and encouragement of new and existing farmers and processors to improve their knowledge and increase the possibility of expanding their production and processing of organic food.

MR. MITROVIC TOOK THE OATH AT THE PARLIAMENT

Bujanovac, Belgrade – Nenad Mitrovic, an MP coming from the SPP’s (Serbian Progressive Party’s) list, took, yesterday, the oath at the Serbian Parliament.

During his rich political career, the mandate received at the elections held on April 24 is his fourth in the Parliament. Mr. Mitrovic said earlier that, as an MP, he would intercede for the welfare of Bujanovac.

Apart from Mr. Mitrovic, Bujanovac has one more deputy in the Serbian Parliament, who is Fatmir Hasani from the PDA (Party for Democratic Action).

In addition to Mr. Mitrovic and Mr. Hasani, the MPs from Pcinj district at the Serbian Parliament include Slavisa Bulatovic (from the SPP – Serbian Progressive Party) and Ivica and Novica Toncev (from the SPS – Socialist Party of Serbia).

COMPLETION OF THE HEMODIALYSIS CENTER IN LEBANE

Lebane, Medvedja – The municipality of Lebane applied to the EU Progress Program with the project for the completion of the Hemodialysis Center, which had been built at the Lebane Health Center for years. The EU Progress Program supported the said project and approved funding in the amount of 45,000 euros for its implementation.

The opening of the Hemodialysis Center will simplify the medical treatment of kidney patients, who will no longer need to travel to Leskovac for hemodialysis, as it will be done in Lebane.

Once it’s open, the Hemodialysis Center in Lebane will be useful to the citizens of the municipalities of Medvedja and Bojnik, for they too will be receiving medical treatment there.  The completion of the said center has been repeatedly announced and, then, postponed.

CALL FOR BASIC TRAINING IN INCREASED VISIBILITY OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS

The TASCO Resource Center of the Civic Initiatives NGO is organizing a two-day training for civil society organizations in Serbia on the topic of: “Strategic Approach to Communications to Increase the Visibility of Civil Society Organizations”.

The training will be held in Belgrade from September 22 to 23, while the exact venue of the training will be communicated later.

80 BABIES BORN AT THE MATERNITY WARD IN PRESEVO IN THE COURSE OF A YEAR

Presevo – Mitat Sahiti, the Head of the Health Center in Presevo, said that 80 babies, whose mothers were from Presevo and Bujanovac, had been born at the maternity ward in Presevo, which was opened a year ago.

TOBACCO INDUSTRY OF BUJANOVAC ON SALE FOR 2 MILLION EUROS

Bujanovac – The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia announced the sale of the Tobacco Industry of Bujanovac (TIB) at a starting price of around 2.06 million euros, while the opening of bids would take place on September 2.

A 57.9 percent stake in the company was offered for sale. 

The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the bidding is August 31, while it is necessary to make a prior payment of around 205,000 euros.  

The TIB employs around 100 workers and it has been, so far, unsuccessfully offered for sale several times.

DOCUMENTARY ON EASTER CUSTOMS IN BUJANOVAC AWARDED

Bujanovac - At the 25th International Festival of Ethnographic TV Films, which was held in Kucevo, the "Drelja Ogorelja" documentary by Sladjan Stojanovic - Frankie, which was produced by the Vranje Office of the Radio and Television of Serbia, received a special award. 

The recognition was given for "direct and comprehensive testimony of the lesser known elements of the Easter traditions in Bujanovac."

The decision was made by the jury that included the head of the jury Radoslav Zelenovic, a filmmaker, and members of the jury Vladimir Bocev, an ethnologist, and Slobodan Naumovic, PhD, a filmmaker and an ethnologist.

59 domestic and foreign films were shown at the festival.
