Today, the Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic opened  a 20 km - long section of  Corridor 10 highway that stretches from Levosoj to Presevo. The construction of this highway section began on July 21, 2008, while it was opened for traffic on the occasion of marking one year’s long of work of the Serbian government.

SECTION OF HIGHWAY IN SOUTH SERBIA OPENED

„Doubtlessly, the results that the Serbian government achieved in the field of infrastructure, particularly those referring to construction of Corridor 10, are visible. The construction of the modern highway, as well as a series of similar activities, indicate that we are a step closer to joining the European Union, as well as to having the visa regime for our citizens abolished.“ That is what, among other things, said Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic yesterday at the appropriate festive event, after he had visited the Levosoj – Presevo section of the modern highway Corridor 10. The said section of the highway is 22 kilometers long, whereas around 13 million euros were invested in it.

Lidija Janjic, Chairperson of the Civilian Resource Center and  a member of the delegation from Bujanovac that was on a two-day visit to Zrenjanin, said at a press-conference that Zrenjanin had been chosen as an example of good practice or as a local self – government from which a great deal could be learnt about regulation and bringing of the interest of citizens in the non - governmental sector into line with the interest of citizens in the municipal government, particularly when the points at issue are inter – ethnic relations in a multi-ethnic environment.

By investing 18 million dinars in expansion of the business premises, as well as in procurement of the equipment, the Serbian Ministry of Justice considerably improved   working conditions of the municipal prosecutor’s office in Presevo, it was stated at a festive hand over of the new business premises.

Meeting of the Working Group for Education, Culture and Providing Information - June 24, 2009

A constitutive meeting of the Working Group for Education, Culture and Providing Information was held on June 24, 2009. The issues discussed at the meeting include the biggest problems of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja in the fields of education, culture, sports and providing information. Ms Tinde Kovac-Cerovic, Chairperson of the Working Group,who is State Secretary of the Ministry of Education , pointed out that even though National Councils, in principle, made decisions about the issues of education of minority communities, the Albanian National Council hadn’t yet been established, so that all problems of the three municipalities in the sphere of  education would be solved by the  Working Group.
